Michael Abbott’s deep expertise in strategic innovation, digital banking, payments, and operational technology enables him to help create business and operating models that deliver efficiency, competitiveness, and growth in his capacity as Senior Managing Director and Global Banking Lead for Accenture. Florian Forst, Partner and Head of Financial Services Central Europe for Arthur D. Little, supports top decision makers of leading financial institutions on strategy, innovation, and cutting edge topics as well as on all aspects of digital business models. And Ainsley Ward, Vice President of Payments Solutions at CGI, currently works with major global banks undertaking payment market modernization, designing a new RTGS platform, supporting ISO 20022 migration, and examining the future role that banks will play in the industry.

1. Laura Hay

Title: Global Head of Insurance

Laura Hay is the Global Head of Insurance for KPMG, a global network of professional firms providing Audit, Tax, and Advisory services. KPMG is one of the Big 4 accounting firms, with 227,000 outstanding professionals working together to deliver value in 146 countries and territories. With a worldwide presence, the firm continues to build on its successes thanks to a clear vision, defined values and, above all, its people. KPMG’s industry focus helps its firms’ professionals develop a rich understanding of clients'​ businesses and the insight, skills, and resources required to address industry-specific issues and opportunities.

Hay has more than 30 years of professional experience in the insurance industry focused on audit, advisory, and actuarial services (including global US GAAP and IFRS conversions), Solvency II and ERM assessments, and finance/actuarial transformations and modeling services (including model risk and control assessments and model validation work). She was named to Consulting Magazine’s 2012 Women Leaders in Consulting List, is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries. Prior to her current role, she worked her way up from Partner to Americas and U.S. Insurance Practice Leader for KPMG US. She got her start as an Actuarial Student for MetLife. Hay earned a Bachelor’s in Mathematics with a minor in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

2. Paul Sharma
Company: Alvarez & Marsal
Title: Managing Director

Paul Sharma leads Alvarez & Marsal’s European Regulatory Advisory Practice. He specializes in non-routine regulator issues such as investigations, diligence, remediation, business transformation, restructuring, and litigation. His expertise spans financial crime, market conduct, consumer protection, prudential standards, and financial stability. He works across the banking, insurance, payment services, and investment/securities/commodities sectors.

His assignments have included work in respect of financial institutions based in (or whose parent is based in) the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Nigeria, Bahrain, Lebanon, and UAE.

He was formerly the Deputy Head of the U.K.’s Prudential Regulation Authority, an alternate member of the boards of both the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), and a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. He earned a Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.

 

3. Harriet Roberts
Company: Oliver Wyman
Title: Partner, Corporate and Institutional Banking

Harriet Roberts is a Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Corporate and Institutional Banking practice, based in the firm’s London office. She has 10 years of experience as a participant in capital markets, followed by 6 years of consulting experience at Oliver Wyman working with major financial institutions including banks, market infrastructure (MI) companies, fintechs, and private equity funds. She is driven by helping clients deliver on their growth aspirations, and specializes in strategic transaction and operational transformation topics, in both pre-deal evaluation and post-deal value-creation settings. As part of her work, she supports data and information services providers to develop their ESG business strategies across value chains, in turn supporting their clients in the financial services community and beyond to deliver on their own ESG and climate-related strategies and commitments. Recent clients have included global market infrastructure companies; banks; and technology, data, and information services providers.

Roberts holds a Master’s in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford. She champions the importance of diversity of thought, experience, and skills in financial services, both within Oliver Wyman through her women in private capital events, talent management and recruitment lead roles, and in the wider industry through her industry relationships.

 

4. Simon Kent
Company: Kearney
Title: Senior Partner and Global Lead, Financial Services

Simon Kent is a Senior Partner at Kearney and the Global Lead for Financial Services. He is based in the London office and has over 25 years’ experience working across the global financial services market. He is passionate about building successful teams and developing talent, and is an active coach and sponsor who aims to make work enjoyable for all involved.

Kent has extensive experience in working with clients on a range of strategic transformation topics including corporate strategy, growth, efficiency, ESG, and digital transformation. In addition, he has supported clients in launching a range of new fintech and challenger banks.

He has received several awards, authored a series of thought leadership articles, is a regular industry commentator, and represents the firm at the World Economic Forum (Davos). Kent received a BA Hons in Economics and Politics from Newcastle University. He is married with two children and enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and following sports.

 

5. Michael Abbott
Company: Accenture
Title: Senior Managing Director and Global Banking Lead

Michael Abbott is responsible for Accenture’s overall vision and strategy for banking. With more than 25 years’ experience in the banking industry, he is committed to helping banks develop and execute strategies that capitalize on the opportunities of industry disruption. His passion for envisioning what is possible has made him a pioneer in the sector. And his deep expertise in strategic innovation, digital banking, payments, and operational technology has enabled him to help create business and operating models that deliver efficiency, competitiveness, and growth.

His corporate career started as a Research Scientist at IBM. He then moved to GE Capital where, as the CMO for Consumer Finance, he started and grew GE’s bankcard business to $10 billion in assets and built its private-label business into a 30% ROE growth engine. He received the Chairman’s Award for decisively leading the business through the financial crisis.

Prior to joining Accenture, Abbott was the Founder and CEO of Softcard, which was acquired by Google in 2015 and is now the mobile wallet platform for Google Pay. He is a regular speaker at major banking events and has authored numerous banking articles and reports. He has a Bachelor of Science from Stony Brook University, and a Master's in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, both from Columbia University.

 

6. Andy Maguire
Company: Boston Consulting Group
Title: Global Chair, Financial Institutions Practice

Andy Maguire serves as the Global Chair of the Financial Institutions Practice for Boston Consulting Group, one of the Big Three management consulting firms. Founded in 1963, BCG is a pioneer in business strategy, empowering organizations to grow, build sustainable competitive advantage, and drive positive societal impact. In addition to his role at the firm, Maguire is the Chairman of the Board for Thought Machine, a United Kingdom-based fintech company.

Before his current position, Maguire served as a Senior Partner and Managing Director for BCG from 1998 to 2014. Between his tenures, he was Group Chief Operating Officer of HSBC Holdings, and he previously served as a Principal with A.T. Kearney. He holds a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and Engineering from Trinity College Dublin.

 

7. Anna Celner
Company: Deloitte Consulting
Title: Global Leader, Banking & Capital Markets

Anna Celner is the Global Banking & Capital Markets Practice Leader for Deloitte, with the responsibility for setting and executing global banking strategy. In this role, she leads strategic client portfolio, go-to-market strategy, and the coordination of the firm’s global network to help banking clients address their strategic priorities and respond to regulatory, technology, and growth challenges. Deloitte is one of the Big Four accounting firms, and one of the largest, oldest firms of its kind; the company provides audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax, and legal services to organizations around the world.

Celner is a 20-year veteran of the Deloitte team and is a current member of the firm’s executive board. Her previous roles include Managing Partner of Clients and Markets, Managing Partner of the Financial Services practice, and Financial Services Executive Board Member in the U.K. and EMEA practices. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School.

 

8. Florian Forst
Company: Arthur D. Little
Title: Partner and Head of Financial Services Central Europe

Florian is a Partner and member of ADL’s global Financial Services Core Management Team and Head of Financial Services Central Europe. He supports top decision makers of leading financial institutions mainly in Germany and Austria on strategy, innovation, and cutting edge topics as well as on all aspects of digital business models.

Forst started his career with McKinsey & Company in 2000. He moved to UniCredit Group in 2007 to establish and lead the inhouse-consulting unit, supporting the group across Europe in highly demanding growth, restructuring, and change projects. In 2016, he joined zeb consulting, a leading European consulting boutique focused on financial services, as a Partner. There, he built his client franchise, advising senior leaders of international/European universal banks, German private banks, financial services infrastructure providers, and PE firms.

He is a lawyer by training, having studied at the Universities of Munich and Oxford. He holds a PhD in Company Law from the University of Munich.

 

9. Karen Brown
Company: CGI
Title: Director, Global Payments Products

Karen Brown serves as Director and Global Payments Product Lead, overseeing CGI payment solutions, including marketing and implementation. Founded in 1976, CGI is among the largest IT and business consulting services firms in the world, operating across 21 industries in 400 locations worldwide. They are insights-driven and outcomes-based to help accelerate returns on clients’ investments, and provide comprehensive, scalable, and sustainable IT and business consulting services that are informed globally and delivered locally.

Brown joined CGI in 2013 as part of the acquisition of Logica, where she spent nearly 16 years. There, she began as a Consultant Operational Risk Manager, but spent more than 14 years as a Project Manager. Prior to Logica, she worked in the U.K. banking sector. She has more than 28 years of experience in payments product strategy and marketing, along with significant expertise in implementing payment solutions for banks.

 

10. Ainsley Ward
Company: CGI
Title: Vice President, Payments Solutions

With considerable international banking and payments experience, Ainsley Ward is an industry thought leader and business development lead for CGI's Payments Solutions. Previously, he worked on payment modernization and open banking in Canada and as an SME in Belgium. Bringing experience from working with banks on every continent, he is well versed in the demands of payment market modernization, finding opportunities from mandatory change, and guiding banks to better outcomes, representing many of his clients in industry working groups and committees including with the EPC and ECB.

Prior to CGI, Ward worked with world-leading companies running Management Consulting at FIS (Clear2Pay), as 2FA Product Manager at MasterCard, and Senior Advisor to European banks with ESBG. He is a VISA-accredited EMV consultant and was US EMF Honor Roll listed for his EMV migration contribution.

Currently, he works with major global banks undertaking payment market modernization, designing a new RTGS platform, supporting ISO 20022 migration, and examining the future role that banks will play. His thoughts are regularly shared as a panelist and speaker, with his understanding of the bigger picture providing delivery of winning payment strategies and products for clients around the world. He is also a member of the U.K.’s Digital Pound Forum.

Ward studied Engineering, Science & Technology at Brunel University in London, and currently resides on the West Coast of Scotland.

 

11. Amit Anand
Company: Cognizant Technology Solutions
Title: Vice President and Americas Practice Leader

Amit Anand is Vice President and Americas Practice Leader at Cognizant, and he is currently leading Americas’ Technology Modernization practice for Cognizant Consulting across industry verticals. Cognizant offers IT services and IT consulting, but beyond that, it engineers modern businesses. It helps its clients modernize technology, reimagine processes, and transform experiences so they can stay ahead in our fast-changing world. Ultimately, Cognizant aims to improve everyday life.

Anand began his current position as Americas Practice Leader in April 2022. Prior to that, he was Consulting Practice Leader in Banking and Finance as well as Vice President. He joined Cognizant as a Senior Consultant in 2006 and progressed to Vice President in 2019. Before that, he was a Business Development Manager at Birlasoft, Senior Systems Analyst at Accenture, and worked in Software Development at Infosys. He graduated from the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at the Indian School of Business and earned a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

 

12. Dominic Henriques
Company: RSM US LLP
Title: Risk Consulting Partner and Global Banking Advisory Leader

Dominic Henriques is a Partner in RSM’s Financial Services Risk Advisory practice with over 22 years of experience assisting audit and non-audit clients within the Banking and Capital Markets sector with a broad range of risk, compliance, systems, and operational control related services. He also serves as the Global Banking Advisory Leader, Carolinas Consulting Leader, and the Carolinas Multicultural Diversity Team Leader.

Prior to joining RSM, Henriques spent 18 years as a Partner at a Big Four firm, where he was responsible for leading multiple global banking and capital market clients. He has been responsible for leading the business process and information technology aspects of the audits for several large, global banks, and he brings a deep understanding of internal controls to provide recommendations to management on improving control structure and complying with various laws and regulations. He also has deep expertise in the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley, including program design and optimization, as well as internal and external audit support related to regulatory remediation for clients including large multi-national banks, regional banks, broker dealers, payment processors, and service providers.

 

13. Muriel Schtickzelle
Company: Oliver Wyman
Title: Partner and Head of Pricing, Sales, Marketing Team in Europe

Currently a Partner in the Brussels office of Oliver Wyman, Muriel Schtickzelle leads the Pricing, Sales, Marketing Team in Europe. She has spent her entire career at Oliver Wyman since joining the Paris office in 2007 and being promoted to Partner at the end of 2015. Most of her work focuses on value creation strategies and commercial transformations for PE-owned portfolio companies, especially in the payments sector.

Schtickzelle has carried out more than 15 transformation projects on behalf of several bank and non-bank payment services providers in Europe, APAC, and LatAm, covering topics related to offer portfolio optimization, pricing optimization, go-to-market strategy implementation, and salesforce improvement. She also handles the coverage of one of the world’s largest PE funds.

Committed to helping our communities, Schtickzelle has dedicated a portion of her time to providing pro bono consulting support to non-profit clients and leading significant social impact projects in France. For the past six years, she has been working with Alpha Omega, Réseau E2C, and AFEV, all non-profit organizations working to increase access to education and employment for under-privileged young people.

At Oliver Wyman, she actively takes part in the talent management strategy of the firm, pushing for the promotion of gender diversity and inclusion throughout the entire career advancement of consultants and implementing efficient mentoring and sponsoring programs. Schtickzelle herself has sponsored more than 20 consultants in the past eight years, and encourages constant improvement of I&D targets in the election process of new partners. She is a commercial engineer and graduated from ICHEC Brussels Management School with a major in Finance. She is fluent in French and English and has a basic knowledge of Dutch.

 

14. Somesh Khanna
Company: McKinsey & Company
Title: Global Banking Leader

Few people in the world know more about the financial services industry than Somesh Khanna. Having spent more than 25 years helping global clients strengthen their businesses financially, Khanna now co-leads McKinsey’s Banking and Securities practice worldwide. On any given day, you may see the McKinsey executive guiding large banks and insurance companies through the complexities of risk management, sales and marketing, operations, technology, and high-impact digital transformation.

Previously, Khanna launched, scaled, and led McKinsey Digital for financial services globally. Prior to McKinsey, he served as Chief Executive Officer of new business at eCredit.com, a position he assumed after a stint at American Express Bank. In addition to his corporate work, Khanna has served as a Director of the Board of the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts since 2012. He is also an active participant at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. In 1998, he received a Master of Science in Finance, Marketing, and Strategy from Northwestern University.

 

15. Stella Mendes
Company: FTI Consulting
Title: Senior Managing Director, Co-Leader of Financial Services

Stella Mendes is a Senior Managing Director and Co-Leader of Financial Services at FTI Consulting, a business advisory firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1982, FTI is one of the largest financial consulting firms in the world and consistently ranks as one of the top global management consulting firms. It specializes in corporate finance and restructuring, economic consulting, strategic communications, and more. Mendes is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).

Since joining FTI in 2014, she has held several roles, including Managing Director and Senior Managing Director, providing advisory services on regulatory responses and anti-money laundering training to banks and other financial services firms. Previously, she served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the First National Bank of New York, and as Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer for Madison National Bank. 16. Fergus Gordon

Title: Managing Director and Banking Industry Lead of Growth Markets

Fergus Gordon is a Management Consultant with more than 20 years of experience advising C-level executives in the global retail and commercial banking industries. Currently, he serves as the Managing Director and Banking Industry Lead of Growth Markets for Accenture, a global professional services company with leading capabilities in digital, cloud, and security. In his leadership role, he specializes in the areas of customer strategy, digital engagement, strategic transformation program design, planning, and delivery.

Gordon joined Accenture in 2016 as a Managing Director of Greater China Banking and later served as a Banking Practice Lead in Africa and Asia Pacific. He also spent more than a decade previously as a Partner in Financial Services Management Consulting with Accenture from 1999 to 2012. Between his tenures, he served as a Partner in the Financial Institutions Group with A.T. Kearney and founded Godolphin Metrics. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (with Merit) in Economics and Accounting from the University of New South Wales.

 

17. William Nolan

Title: Senior Managing Director, Co-Leader of Financial Services

Forty-year industry veteran William Nolan is a Senior Managing Director and Co-Leader of Financial Services for FTI Consulting, a business advisory firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1982, FTI is one of the largest financial consulting firms in the world, specializing in corporate finance and restructuring, economic consulting, strategic communications, and more. 18. Jan Bellens

As the EY Global Banking & Capital Markets Sector Leader, Jan Bellens counsels banks in defining their strategies and supports their implementation with investments, acquisitions, and ambitious organic growth initiatives. Headquartered in London, EY is one of the Big Four accounting firms and one of the largest professional services networks in the world. The firm has made the Fortune “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for 24 consecutive years.

For the last two decades, Bellens has supported the executive teams of leading banks with their growth opportunities and multi-year business transformations. In his time at EY he has held many roles, including other leadership positions in the global banking and capital markets sector. Prior to joining EY, he was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company. He holds bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Antwerp and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD.

 

19. Elie Fakhoury

Title: Senior Managing Director, Financial Advisory

Elie Fakhoury boasts more than 15 years of experience successfully planning and leading large-scale transformation programs and operational improvement for a broad range of clients. Currently, Fakhoury serves as the Senior Managing Director of Financial Advisory for Teneo, a public relations and advisory company working exclusively with CEOs and senior executive leaders. The firm works with many clients from the Fortune 100 and Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 Index.

Since joining Teneo, Fakhoury has held several formal and informal interim management roles on behalf of large clients across the Middle East in a wide range of industries. Previously, he was the Director of Turnaround and Restructuring Services for Alix Partners, an Investment Banking Associate with Nomura, and a Private Equity Specialist at Istithmar World. He holds a Bachelor’s in Finance from Boston University.

 

20. Judd Caplain

Title: Global Head of Financial Services

Since April 2021, Judd Caplain has served as the Global Head of Financial Services for KPMG, a multinational professional services firm and one of the Big Four accounting firms. Founded in 1987, KPMG is a Netherlands-based firm with over 227,000 professionals working in 146 countries and territories to provide audit, tax, and advisory services. In his capacity as a Global Head, Caplain is responsible for KPMG’s largest practice, with over 50,000 dedicated partners and professionals around the world.

Caplain joined KPMG in 2001, and he has since held a number of leadership roles within the firm, including National Advisory Industry Leader for Banking and Global Head of Banking and Capital Markets. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Syracuse University and a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.

 

21. Richard Hammell
Company: Deloitte UK
Title: Managing Partner, Financial Services

A 20-year veteran of the firm, Richard Hammell is the Managing Partner of Financial Services at Deloitte UK and sits on the firm’s UK executive team. In his current role, Hammell has worked on improving the end-to-end processes for operations, risk, and financial management in wholesale and investment banking, including the use of analytics.

In his career with Deloitte, Hammell has also served as a Partner and UK Head of Strategy and Operations and as a partner in Financial Services. Prior to joining Deloitte, Hammell was a Manager with PwC UK and a Fund Manager at Kleinwort Benson. He holds a Bachelor's in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) from the University of Oxford.

 

22. Tamseel Butt

Title: Managing Director, Private Equity & Insurance and Risk Advisory

Tamseel Butt is the Managing Director of the Private Equity & Insurance and Risk Advisory Practice for Alvarez & Marsal (A&M). Founded in 1983, A&M is a global professional services firm that has led turnaround management for such notable clients as Lehman Brothers, HealthSouth, and Tribune Company. In his role, Butt leads the strategy and operations of the performance improvement practices for insurance and private equity companies.

Prior to joining A&M, Butt was the Head of Strategy, Transformation, and Operations for the life and annuities business at MetLife; previously, he was Head of Financial Planning and Analysis Transformation for AIG Property Casualty. He holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of West London and a Master of Business Administration in Management from Bournemouth University.

 

23. Ali Inan

Title: U.S. Fintech Industry Leader

In August 2020, Ali Inan brought his nearly 15 years of senior level experience in finance to Marsh, the world’s leading provider of insurance brokering and risk management consulting. With more than 45,000 colleagues operating in 130 countries, Marsh provides the perfect proving ground for someone as talented and ambitious as Inan.

Since coming on board, he has been working with clients and prospects across a wide range of subsectors in the fintech world – from startups to large financial institutions – that have come to rely on him for his expertise in fintech development, operational risk management, crypto firms, and insuretech. Rather than offering a “one-size-fits-all” approach to his clients, Inan's success stems from his ability to guide his clients through a highly personalized process of balancing risk exposure with well-planned strategic business initiatives. Prior to Marsh, he held senior roles at financial institutions like Aon, MacCorkle Insurance, and Fisher Investments. He earned a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Santa Clara University.

 

24. Kate Seitz
Company: RSM US LLP
Title: National Technical Director of Capital Markets

Kate Seitz is the National Technical Director of Capital Markets at RSM US LLP, a member of the RSM International network, and the fifth largest accounting firm in the U.S. Seitz assumed the role in December 2019, after first joining RSM US in 2003 as an Assurance Partner. With more than 17 years of experience related to the public accounting industry, she is now responsible for serving clients, developing the firm’s financial services audit methodology, and providing consultations and quality reviews for engagement teams, among other services. Until recently, she also served as the national leader of InspirAsian, RSM’s Asian employee network group.

For her stellar achievements in the Pan Asian community, Seitz was awarded the Ascend Inspiring Across Generations (IAG) High Impact Leader Award in 2019. A role model for girls and young women, she is very active in diversity and inclusion initiatives. She is the National Leader of RSM’s women’s employee network group, and she leads the Great Lake’s Women in Private Equity Initiative. Before becoming a certified public accountant, Seitz received her Bachelor's and Master's in Accounting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

 

25. Pankaj Gupta
Company: Wipro
Title: Global Leader of Capital Markets Consulting

As a global business leader with 25 years of financial services experience from working at some of the most high-profile consulting firms in the world, Pankaj Gupta is an expert in shaping and delivering business transformation for his clients. Since January 2020, Gupta has been a Management Consulting Partner at Wipro Limited, the India-based multinational consulting giant. In this position, he uses his famous hands-on approach to ensure that the consulting business continues to thrive across the globe. Known for his love of innovation, he is especially passionate about new product-service ecosystems and disruptive technologies that change the game.

In 1995, Gupta joined the former Big Five professional services giant Arthur Andersen. In 2002, he arrived at Infosys Technologies, where he would spend the next 16 years of his career, adding different fields of expertise to his resume, until he eventually became a Partner for Financial Services at the firm. During his lengthy career, he's similarly distinguished himself in senior and executive positions at companies like Booz Allen and Synechron. Gupta earned his Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and his Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
