Sustainability has become an important concern in corporate boardrooms across all industries, but many companies have struggled to actually implement successful changes and meet their ESG (environmental, social, and governance) goals. Meanwhile, pressure has been mounting on companies from stakeholders of all types—from customers to investors to employees—to show that they not only care about protecting the environment, but that they are making a concerted effort to become more environmentally friendly. The leaders on this year’s list are the keys that unlock the sustainability potential of these companies and add incredible value for their clients.
Dr. Velislava Ivanova, Americas Chief Sustainability Officer for EY, leads a team of more than 500 professionals in the EY Americas Climate Change and Sustainability Services practice. Clint Follette, Managing Director and Senior Partner at BCG, leads BCG’s climate and sustainability work globally in oil, gas, and chemicals and advises while advising leading companies on topics like decarbonization, plastic waste, and renewable fuels and materials. And Sasha Duchnowski, Partner at Bain & Company, leads Bain’s global Food System Transformation efforts and has led or advised on critical programs and collaborations like Pacific Island Tuna and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste.
This year’s awardees hold a variety of positions and work across many different industries, but they all are indispensable to their clients for the same reason: they are the catalysts companies need to get their ESG effort in order, whether that means getting it off the ground or accelerating it to net-zero and beyond. 1. David Young

Title: Managing Director and Senior Partner
David Young is Managing Director and a Senior Partner for Boston Consulting Group, where he leads the firm’s total societal impact, ESG, and sustainability strategy. Young is a Fellow of the BCG Henderson Institute (BHI), where he leads research on Sustainable Business Model Innovation and the agenda for BHI’s Center for Climate & Sustainability. He is a member of BCG’s Climate & Sustainability Practice and Social Impact Practice. He engages with governments, companies, and investors across industries and geographies on sustainability strategy, advantage, and innovation.
Prior to rejoining BCG in 2016, Young served as the Global COO of World Vision International, accountable for its community development, humanitarian, microfinance, technical, and administrative operations enabled by 41,000 staff in over 80 nations, contributing to the well-being of 150 million of the world's most vulnerable children.
Young co-chairs the executive committee for the UN's Connecting Business Initiative, which brings corporations into emergency preparedness, response, and recovery. Young is a member of the boards of KickStart International and the World Humanitarian Forum. He earned a master’s in systems engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor’s in physics, mathematics, and religion from the University of Mount Union.
2. Dr. Velislava Ivanova

Title: Americas Chief Sustainability Officer
Dr. Velislava Ivanova is a recognized sustainability expert with over twenty-five years of wide international experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies and programs for multinational corporations from various sectors including energy, manufacturing, retail, consumer goods, and pharmaceuticals. She works successfully with senior executives in large and complex organizations to set sustainability ambitions and goals, improve business performance, and embed sustainability across their value chains and products.
In her role as the EY Americas Chief Sustainability Officer, Dr. Ivanova drives the advancement of the EY Sustainability initiatives to increase the long-term value of the firm and its clients. She leads a team of more than 500 professionals in the EY Americas Climate Change and Sustainability Services practice and is responsible for the practice growth in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and South America.
An inclusive and transformative leader, Dr. Ivanova fosters a collaborative environment for diverse talent, developing innovative ESG solutions and pioneering the transition to a low-carbon and circular economy. She was recently recognized among the Sustainability Magazine Top 100 Women in Sustainability.
Dr. Ivanova speaks five languages and holds a PhD and MSc from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom and an MSc from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria.
3. Clint Follette
Company: Boston Consulting Group
Title: Managing Director and Senior Partner
Clint Follette is Managing Director and a Senior Partner in BCG’s Houston office and has more than 20 years of industry and consulting experience in oil, gas, and chemicals. He currently leads BCG’s climate and sustainability work globally in those sectors and has advised leading companies on sustainability topics including decarbonization, plastic waste, and renewable fuels and materials. He has supported companies on strategy, growth, operations, and M&A topics in support of their sustainability objectives. Prior to joining BCG, he worked for ExxonMobil Chemical as a Research Engineer.
Follette is an author of more than 12 BCG publications, including “Are Oil Companies Ready for the Next Energy Transition in the U.S.?,” “Making a Business Case for Sustainability in Chemicals,” “A Circular Solution to Plastic Waste,” and “What It Will Take to Reap the Rewards of Renewable Fuels.” He graduated from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management with an MBA/MEM degree and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Louisville with a BS/MEng in chemical engineering.
4. Richard Forrest
Company: Kearney
Title: Global Sustainability Lead
Richard Forrest is the Global Sustainability Lead for Kearney, where he helps clients navigate the biggest challenge of our time, which is also the biggest opportunity. He has more than 25 years of experience across the energy and chemicals sectors globally, and he is a longstanding advocate of energy transition.
Forrest has successfully led numerous high-profile initiatives for leading companies, in particular driving high-impact global transformation, large-scale mergers, and distinctive strategy. He led Kearney’s global energy practice for six years, with a focus on helping clients address energy transition. During this time, he established the Energy Transition Institute within the firm and created a technology start-up (EV8) to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. He is now Chairman of the Board of both the A.T. Kearney Energy Transition Institute and EV8 Technologies.
Prior to Kearney, Forrest worked as a senior engineer for KBR and as an engineer for Bechtel Corporation. He served as a global board member at Kearney for six years on all committees, and he is currently the M&A Chair on the firm’s global leadership team. He earned an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and a master’s in chemical engineering from the University of Nottingham.
5. Lucas Chaumontet
Company: Boston Consulting Group
Title: Managing Director and Partner
Lucas Chaumontet leads BCG’s work in Climate & Energy Transition in Africa. Over the past 15 years, he has led several major strategy, decarbonization, and operational improvements programs for global energy and industrial companies across Europe, Asia, and Africa. The overall carbon footprint addressed by the corporate programs he has supported exceeds 280 million tons per year.
Chaumontet has also been instrumental in assembling multi-stakeholder coalitions and has led country-wide programs on the topic of energy transition and economic development, the most notable one being the ongoing NBI-BUSA-BCG Just Transition and Climate Pathways for South Africa, which is championed by 30 CEOs. This year, Chaumontet founded the BCG Centre for Climate & Energy Transition in Africa, which focuses on building critical capabilities within public and private sectors and developing new green projects and businesses, including renewables and green hydrogen. Chaumontet holds a MSc in engineering from École des Ponts ParisTech and studied at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
6. Emma Cox
Company: PricewaterhouseCoopers
Title: Global Climate Leader
Emma Cox is the Global Climate Leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she drives the delivery of a client-focused global climate strategy. Previously, Cox led PwC UK’s Sustainability and Climate Change practice, with a team of over 100 U.K.-based sustainability and climate change experts advising public and private sector clients in the U.K. and internationally on sustainability, development, urbanization, and climate change-related issues.
In her current role, Cox leads network-wide priorities for the development of leading-edge propositions, assets, and tools; climate upskilling of all PwC employees; and climate-related engagement in key platforms, including the WEF, WBCSD, SBTi, SMI, and UNFCCC COP.
An engineer and accountant by training, her previous roles included setting up PwC’s structuring services practice, Head of People for the firm’s Advisory business, and UK’s Head of Purpose, where she had oversight of the internal UK corporate sustainability team, including implementation of the firm’s net zero pledge. Cox oversaw PwC's work with the WEF IBC on Measuring Stakeholder Capitalism and is the liaison delegate for PwC with the WBCSD. She is a Trustee of the UK’s PwC Foundation and was a founder member of PwC UK’s Diversity council.
7. Sasha Duchnowski
Company: Bain & Company
Title: Partner
Sasha Duchnowski is a Partner at Bain & Company and is based in the firm’s Chicago office. He is a leader in the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources, Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility and Strategy practices. Since joining Bain in 2004, Duchnowski has honed deep expertise across the energy and natural resources sphere, especially within food and agriculture. He focuses on advising clients—corporations, NGOs, and investors—on a range of strategy topics related to ESG-driven disruption in Food & Agriculture and materials (i.e. plastics), including new business development, growth strategy, and innovation strategy.
Duchnowski leads Bain’s global Food System Transformation efforts and has led or advised on critical programs and collaborations like Pacific Island Tuna and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. This work involves partnerships with important NGOs like The Nature Conservancy and The American Chemistry Council. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School as well as a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
8. Peter Cooper
Company: McKinsey & Company
Title: Associate Partner - Sustainability Practice
Peter Cooper is an Associate Partner in McKinsey & Company’s Sustainability Practice. He is passionate about achieving global decarbonization in a way that has positive socio-economic benefits for individuals in society. As a result, his work focuses on areas at the intersection of the public and private sectors. This includes highly regulated emerging technologies like carbon removal, city-level climate mitigation and adaptation, and the design of national transition pathways that contribute to high-quality green jobs and a lower cost of living.
Cooper’s experience includes supporting governments, transnational organizations, investors, major corporations, and high-growth start-ups. He has led much of the firm’s sustainability research, including “Climate Risk and Response,” McKinsey’s largest ever research piece on the socio-economic impacts of climate change. He also is a leader in PRISM, McKinsey’s initiative to increase the socio-economic diversity of the company and its clients.
Prior to McKinsey, Cooper spent nearly five years with Arup, where he worked across the globe on projects to drive a more sustainably built environment. He is a civil engineer and holds an engineering doctorate from the University of Bristol with a concentration on smart cities as well as an MEng in engineering design from the University of Bristol.
9. Andrew Keech
Company: Bain & Company
Title: Expert Associate Partner
Andrew Keech is an Expert Associate Partner in the Ag, Food and Sustainability practice at Bain & Company. Keech advises organizations on a range of sustainability and strategic issues related to agriculture and food, including full potential growth strategies, market entry, and sustainable supply chains. Keech’s work spans the breadth of the food value chain from agriculture inputs and on-farm regenerative practices to downstream consumer products such as alternative proteins. He is passionate about helping organizations navigate the sustainable transformation of the food system.
Currently based in the firm’s Chicago office, Keech began his career with Bain in 2012 in the London office as an Associate Consultant and became an Associate Partner in 2020. Prior to Bain, Keech earned a PhD from the University of Bristol in isotope geochemistry and climate change and a master’s in earth sciences from the University of Oxford.
10. Kensey Biggs
Company: Teneo
Title: Managing Director, ESG
Kensey Biggs completed her first ESG project a decade ago. Leveraging deep experience in investor relations, Biggs brings an investor’s perspective to ESG matters and applies a data-driven approach to connect material sustainability factors with a company’s financial performance. She advises clients primarily on ESG strategy, as well as on ESG integration, oversight, infrastructure, and reporting.
Biggs came to Teneo from Truist, where she reported to the Chief Sustainability Officer and helped build the bank’s ESG practice from the ground up following the merger of SunTrust and BB&T. She previously was a Senior Counselor at Abernathy MacGregor, where she developed its ESG offering and served as a founding Co-Chair of the AMO Network’s Global ESG Taskforce, a committee of ESG experts spanning four continents.
Earlier in her career, Biggs helped grow Teneo’s investor relations practice and ESG offering, managing the launch of the Shareholder-Director Exchange, a corporate governance initiative led by U.S. asset managers and public company directors. She started her career at Goldman Sachs in New York. In 2022, she was named one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business by the National Diversity Council. She is also a member of JUST Capital’s JUST Generation Committee.
11. Christopher LeWand
Company: FTI Consulting
Title: Senior Managing Director
Chris LeWand is a Senior Managing Director in FTI’s Corporate Finance Segment; the Global Power, Renewables, and Energy Transition (PRET) Leader; and a member of FTI Capital Advisors. LeWand is recognized as a Global Leader in Who's Who Legal's Energy Expert ranking and was also named to the A Word About Wind List of Top 100 Most Influential in the North America Power Industry.
LeWand has assisted on well over 100 power and renewables projects, including many of the industry's seminal events. He has served on boards, acted as a board advisor, and taken roles as interim management such as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Restructuring Officer, and Private Equity Fund Managing Director for multibillion-dollar enterprises. The result is fiduciary, consulting, and advisory services which come from the perspective of someone who knows what it means to be held accountable for critical decisions, has the rigor required to generate the greatest likelihood of success, and knows the importance of maintaining the highest ethical standards. LeWand began his career in the audit and management consulting practices at Arthur Andersen and PwC. He earned an MBA from Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School and a bachelor of science in business administration from Villanova University.
12. Concha Iglesias
Company: Deloitte
Title: Partner and Leader, Climate and Sustainability
Concha Iglesias is a Partner and Leader of Climate and Sustainability for Deloitte Spain.
Working with IBEX-35 companies, she has developed sustainable strategic plans associated with new trends and topics. She has led major projects committed to sustainability and ESG criteria, helping them in the strategic and operational transformation of the new era of business. Together with her team, she has positioned Deloitte at the top of the consulting companies in Sustainability and Climate change.
Iglesias is a member of the “Fundación Deloitte,” a non-profit organization that, among other actions, fights against deforestation with initiatives like “El Bosque de Deloitte.” She is also a member of “Fundación SERES,” which tries to build a better social reality. Within the firm, she is the leading woman in promoting diversity and the inclusion of women in society. She was included in the female leadership book in Spain in 2022 and has been part of numerous cross initiatives, publications, and conferences that have given her the knowledge and the know-how.
Iglesias is a member of the firm’s committee of innovation, social action, and business and industry. She graduated with a degree in economics and business, holds a master’s in executive development and sustainability from the University of Cambridge, and has multidisciplinary training in leadership. Iglesias began her career on the audit side as a member of the Spanish Official Auditors’ Register in 2009, which allows her and the Deloitte team to provide value to the strategic advice of the main IBEX-35 companies, with the necessary advice on impact measurement and reporting. Iglesias joined Deloitte more than twenty years ago, and she was appointed partner more than ten years ago.
13. Peter Lacy

Title: Global Sustainability Services Lead and Chief Responsibility Officer
Peter Lacy is the Global Sustainability Services Lead and Chief Responsibility Officer for Accenture, the world’s largest integrated consulting and technology services firm listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Lacy’s career at Accenture has been focused on providing value and impact for clients through growth and innovative strategy, sustainability, technology, and solving real-world problems at speed and scale. He currently leads all client services and external activities as well as all internal activities on responsible business and sustainability. He also leads Accenture's technology ecosystem partnerships with partners such as SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft, and Arabesque.
Lacy is a non-executive director/board member of Aerofarms, an award-winning vertical farming, sustainability, and technology platform and urban agriculture business. He is a twice bestselling co-author in 9 languages with two books on sustainability, strategy, new business models, and disruptive technologies: "Waste to Wealth,” released in 2015, and “The Circular Economy Handbook,” released in 2020. He earned a bachelor of arts in politics from the University of Nottingham and has studied and lectured at several elite universities, including Cambridge, INSEAD, Oxford, Yale, and Harvard.
14. Elizabeth Wayt

Prior to Booz Allen, she was an Environmental Policy Consultant for Tetra Tech EM, and before that a Practice Lead for Project Performance Corporation. She earned a master’s in public policy from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in international business from James Madison University.
15. Sophia Mendelsohn
Company: Cognizant
Title: Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of ESG
Sophia Mendelsohn is the Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of ESG for Cognizant, a Fortune 200 digital solutions and technology company. She and her Cognizant colleagues are applying ESG solutions to tech and systemic thinking.
Mendelsohn was the first Chief Sustainability Officer at JetBlue Airways, where she shaped JetBlue and the aviation industry by instigating climate crisis responses. She led ESG conversations with investors and owners, taking back their questions to further protect the intangible brand and traditional financial value. Prior to JetBlue, Mendelsohn was Head of Sustainability for Haworth, a multinational manufacturer in the corporate real estate industry. Previously, she worked for the Jane Goodall Institute in Shanghai, establishing environment programs in offices and schools in China.
Over the course of her career, Mendelsohn has been recognized for her leadership and commitment to corporate citizenship. In 2016, she won the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Leadership Award and was named Climate Leader of the Year by Ethical Corporation. In 2020, she was named one of the top 30 people leading the climate charge by Bloomberg. Mendelsohn serves on boards and advisory councils and has designed and taught the first ESG at Harvard Extension School. She has a master of science in sustainable management from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in East Asian studies from Brandeis University.
16. Richard Threlfall

Richard Threlfall is the Global Head of KPMG IMPACT, which brings together expertise from across the globe focused on the issues that go to the heart of our planet's sustainability and our quality of life: Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG); economic and social development; sustainable finance; climate change and decarbonization; and the associated measurement, reporting, and assurance. Threlfall is also the Global Head of KPMG’s Global Infrastructure Network, which helps to connect the world, build prosperity, reduce poverty, and create a sustainable quality of life. The network advises stakeholders in every stage of the infrastructure lifecycle, from planning, strategy, procurement, finance, and construction to asset management, operations, and divestment.
With more than 25 years of experience in infrastructure and transport, Threlfall has advised private and public sector clients on some of the world’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects. He is passionate about the benefits of the growing role of technology in infrastructure and in particular future mobility, including electric and autonomous vehicles and mobility as a service.
Threlfall is a Fellow, Vice President, and Trustee of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Chair of the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure, a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Urban Mobility, a member of the Infrastructure Board of the Confederation of British Industry, and KPMG’s representative on the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. In addition, as Chair of the U.K. Infrastructure Forum Advisory Council, he helps bring together individuals with multiple perspectives to engage openly in sharing experiences and understanding how we can work together to drive better outcomes for society. He earned a master of arts in modern history from the University of Oxford and an MBA from Cranfield University.
17. Chris Smy

Title: Managing Director and Global Environmental Practice Leader
Chris Smy is the Managing Director and Global Practice Leader for Marsh's Environmental Practice. Marsh is the world’s leading insurance broker and risk advisor. With over 45,000 colleagues operating in 130 countries, the firm serves commercial and individual clients with data-driven risk solutions and advisory services. Marsh is a business of Marsh McLennan, the world’s leading professional services firm in the areas of risk, strategy, and people.
After a 17-year stint in the Royal Marines in which he attained the rank of Sergeant, Smy wanted the next phase of his career to align with the intellectual stimulation he found in science and his love of the outdoors, which led him to his current career. With Marsh, his responsibilities include leading the practice, acting as a strategic advisor for clients managing environmental risk, and managing insurer relationships.
Prior to Marsh, Smy also worked as a Senior Environmental Underwriter for AIG Europe and as a Consultant with WS Atkins. He earned an MBA from the University of Warwick, a master of science in environmental management and pollution control from the University of Surrey, and a bachelor of science in earth and environmental sciences from The Open University.
18. Lauren Wylie
Company: Oliver Wyman
Title: Global Head of Sustainability
Lauren Wylie is the Global Head of Sustainability for Oliver Wyman and works out of the firm’s San Francisco office. She was on a small ship in Antarctica when she decided to pursue a career in sustainability. Based in Oliver Wyman’s New York office at the time, she won an essay contest and a ticket to represent Oliver Wyman on a leadership expedition with Sir Robert Swan and the 2041 Foundation. The journey was so impactful for Wylie that she dedicated herself to starting a local green team, which grew into her role in leading Oliver Wyman’s internal sustainability efforts globally. Working with Oliver Wyman’s parent company, Marsh McLennan, she co-created its award-winning Green Traveler program and other initiatives, while growing Oliver Wyman’s global Green Champion network to engage colleagues.
Wylie leads the effort to fulfill Oliver Wyman’s commitment as a CarbonNeutral® company, and to integrate sustainability into the firm’s operations, collaborating on strategies to reduce its carbon footprint. As of January 2021, she also leads the Oliver Wyman for Society program, which coordinates the firm’s volunteering, fundraising, and social impact projects that aim to make a significant, meaningful impact on society. In addition, she is working to support Marsh McLennan and Oliver Wyman’s alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Wylie also serves on the Board of Directors for EarthShare, a nonprofit that connects the most influential environmental organizations with employers, people, and communities to protect our planet. She received a bachelor of fine arts in musical theatre from the University of Arizona.
19. Theresa Dugan

Theresa Dugan is the Head of Global Sustainability and Social Impact for Slalom, a global consulting firm focused on strategy, technology, and business transformation. She has a degree in business management and urban planning from the Portland State University School of Business.
20. Pratik Raval

Title: Partner and Head of ESG, Sustainability, and Climate Advisory
Pratik Raval is a Partner and Head of ESG, Sustainability, and Climate Advisory at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as well as a Visiting Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a recognized leader with a strong history of leveraging sustainability for product and service innovation, business transformation, and risk management, resulting in synergistic value creation for businesses and all their stakeholders. He has lectured at a number of prestigious academic institutions, international conferences, and symposia.
Prior to TCS, Raval was a Senior Manager - ESG & Operations for American Express and Associate Director of Sustainability Consulting for Transsolar Climate Engineering and Sustainability Consulting. He got his start as a Graduate Researcher with Daimler AG. Raval earned a master’s in computational engineering from Ruhr University Bochum and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from L.D. College of Engineering, graduating 1st class with distinction.
21. Teresa Garti

Garti works with principal investors and private equity deal teams, operating teams, and portfolio company CEOs across industry verticals to quantify and manage operational risk and address business performance at all stages of the investment cycle. Prior to dss+, she served as President of Garti Associates, LLC, Director of Business Development for GEP Worldwide, and Senior Business Development Manager for L.E.K. Consulting. 22. Tom Reichert

Title: Global Chief Executive Officer
Tom Reichert joined ERM as Global Chief Executive Officer in February 2022 and leads a team of roughly 6,500 professionals in more than 40 countries worldwide. He is an expert with more than 30 years of experience in the technology, business, and sustainability consulting services industry.
Prior to taking on the role of Chief Executive at ERM, Reichert served as the Global Leader of DigitalBCG at Boston Consulting Group, Global Practice Area Chair, and a member of BCG's Executive and Operating Committees. In this role, he headed up BCG's Social Impact and Sustainability Practice and helped launch BCG's Center for Climate & Sustainability. He was a former BCG Chair of North America, overseeing operations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and was also the global leader of BCG's Technology Advantage practice.
In 2014, Consulting Magazine named Reichert one of the industry's top 25 most influential consultants in the leadership category, and in 2020, he was recognized as one of the Power Players of Consulting by Business Insider. Reichert has also served as CIO at BT Financial Australia/New Zealand and as relationship manager for small to medium-sized companies for Dresdner Bank in Germany. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Bayreuth and an MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
23. Susan Angyal
Company: ERM
Title: Regional Chief Executive Officer for North America
Susan Angyal was appointed ERM’s Regional Chief Executive Officer for North America in June 2020. She believes that a company can achieve success most readily when its people are inspired by a shared vision for a better, more sustainable future. A chemical engineer by background, she brings more than 25 years of experience in the environmental consulting and regulatory fields — 15 of which have been at ERM. She quickly proved herself as a leader at ERM in the area of air quality and climate change, then directed a learning and development program to foster future leaders. More recently, she assumed operational leadership roles, including that of chief operating officer for the North America business.
Prior to joining ERM, Angyal worked as a Consultant to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency developing regulations for its Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards. This role complemented her earlier experience as an Environmental Consultant addressing Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Superfund challenges for her clients. She earned a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Villanova University.
24. Thomas Lewis

Title: Climate, Resilience, and Sustainability Executive Lead
Thomas Lewis is the Climate, Resilience, and Sustainability Executive Lead for WSP. Based in Quebec, WSP is one of the world's leading professional services consulting firms. It designs lasting solutions in the Transportation & Infrastructure, Property & Buildings, Environment, Power & Energy, Resources, and Industry sectors, as well as offering strategic advisory services.
Prior to WSP, Lewis was President and Chief Executive Officer of Louis Berger US, Inc. After Louis Berger's acquisition by WSP in December 2018, Lewis was asked to lead a newly consolidated business line focused on climate, resilience, sustainability, emergency management, and the incorporation and leveraging of justice/equity/diversity/inclusion and "Future Ready" innovation. He also serves on WSP USA's executive leadership team and board.
Lewis serves on multiple corporate and advisory boards, including as founding organizer of the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure, Resilience First, the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory Board at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, and the Disaster Recovery Contractors Association. He earned a JD in contracts and environmental law/regulation from Rutgers University Law School and both a bachelor’s and master’s in engineering from the University of Connecticut.
25. Renae Walter

Title: Global Director of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
Renae Walter joined WSP as Global Director of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) in July 2021. She is an experienced HSEQ professional with demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies and systems to address critical health and safety risks, and impacts associated with social wellbeing, our environment, and the communities we work within.
Walter has worked extensively in the resource industry throughout Canada, Australia, Asia, and South America, with exposure to various stages of the mining life cycle. She has also benefitted from working within a customer service business with significant environmental and social impacts in Europe. She believes that committing to sustainable development requires a clearly defined strategy, aligned with an integrated management system focused on each company’s risk profile.
Walter has a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and is certified as a Prince2 Project Management Practitioner. Prior to its acquisition by WSP, she was Global Director of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) for Golder. She has also worked as Principal Consultant for Headwaters Consulting and HSE Systems Manager for Heathrow Airport. She earned a master’s in health, safety, and environment; a master’s in occupational health and safety; and a bachelor’s in food science and technology, all from Curtin University. She also earned a certificate in corporate innovation and sustainability from Harvard Extension School.
