The Consulting Report is pleased to announce The Top 50 Healthcare Consultants of 2021. These are the individuals who advise the largest and fastest growing healthcare and life sciences companies across the globe. Through their deep domain expertise they provide strategic insight to management teams so they may better guide and grow their organizations, optimize operational efficiency, leverage the latest in technology, and launch new products and services, among other activities. Awardees were nominated and selected based on their demonstrated career commitment to the healthcare industry and their ability to deliver consistent best-in-class consulting services. They anticipate the needs of their clients, in turn helping them achieve key milestones and objectives, and in parallel advancing the overall healthcare industry at large.

Notably, many of this year’s awardees have spent decades honing their craft while taking on more responsibility as leaders and executives with their organizations and beyond. Some have also dedicated their time to impactful causes such as McKinsey’s Jack Henry, who is an active leader in many Chicago civic enterprises, Trinity Life Science’s Herman Sanchez, who has been a longtime supporter of Peace First, which empowers young people to change the world around them, and CapGemini’s Olivier Zitoun, who launched Covid19 API, a pro-bono grassroots project meant to ease COVID-19 data sharing. Williams is a seasoned executive with more than three decades of leadership experience. He leads Cognizant’s Life Sciences consulting team and is the Strategy Leader for Cognizant’s Life Sciences business. As global consulting leader, Williams is responsible for managing and leading teams in North America, U.K./Europe, and Asia that provide management consulting services to the global biopharmaceutical and medical device/diagnostics industries. He also serves as Chief Digital Officer of the Life Sciences practice.

Prior to joining Cognizant, Williams spent nearly a decade with PwC/Strategy& where he was a founding member of its “New Entrants” practice that identified and defined the transformation in care access and delivery enabled by ubiquitous technology and torrents of clinical and commercial data. He also served as a regional venture partner with Hopewell Ventures, as well as filling several other leadership roles in life sciences and pharmaceutical companies. He holds a BA in history from Indiana University Bloomington.

 

2. Brad Michel

Brad Michel is the Industry Lead of the North American Life Sciences practice at Accenture, a global professional services company with leading capabilities in digital, cloud, and security. Accenture combines unmatched experience and specialized skills across more than 40 industries to deliver strategy and consulting, interactive, technology, and operations services. Michel has held several leadership roles in the company’s Life Sciences R&D practice, including as the lead of such verticals as research, clinical development, pharmacovigilance, regulatory, and patient services. He began his career with Accenture in 2000 as a life sciences management and technology consulting practitioner.

Michel boasts years of experience leading large client relationships with Top 10 pharmaceutical companies, with a focus on driving transformation through innovation, operational efficiency, and cost savings. In addition, he has significant global experience and a broad background in business advisory and management consulting, IT strategy and delivery, digital transformation, and outsourcing operations across the Life Sciences value chain. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Villanova University.

 

3. Ajay Royyuru

Title: Vice President, Healthcare & Life Sciences Research

Ajay Royyuru is Vice President of Healthcare & Life Sciences Research for IBM, a multinational technology and services company. The IBM Healthcare & Life Sciences Research division is headquartered in the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. IBM’s scientists and other professionals are creating software and AI systems that can convert reams of health data into usable information for clinicians the world over. Royyuru leads Healthcare & Life Sciences research at IBM and his team is actively pursuing high-quality science, developing novel technologies, and achieving translational insights across this industry, including areas of cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic, neurological and mental health, and immunological and infectious diseases.

After his undergraduate and master’s education in human biology and biophysics from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Royyuru obtained his Ph. D. in molecular biology from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. He had postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, and a brief stint in scientific software development before joining IBM Research. 4. Amanda Adler

Amanda Adler is a Partner at Bain & Company, an American management consultancy headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Since joining the firm in 2006, she has developed expertise across a range of healthcare sectors, including medtech, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, payers, and providers. Recently, she has focused on driving business strategy, customer experience, operating models, and complexity reduction. She has also led an array of diligences for healthcare private equity clients. 5. Dr. Ulrica Sehlstedt

Dr. Ulrica Sehlstedt is a Managing Partner in Arthur D. Little’s Stockholm office and Global Practice Leader for Healthcare and Life Sciences. ADL has been at the forefront of innovation since 1886. 6. Kevin Locke

7. Michael Wise

Michael Wise is a Partner and the Americas Health Practice Leader at Kearney, an American management consulting firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. 8. Kunle Elebute

11. Martin McGahan

13. Vicky Levy

He holds an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

 

17. Olivier Zitoun

Before joining Capgemini, he was a partner and life sciences lead for LiquidHub; prior to that, he founded and was CEO of Eveo, which was acquired by LiquidHub. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched Covid19 API, a pro-bono grassroots project meant to ease COVID-19 data sharing. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Paris, Sorbonne.

 

18. Dr. Clemens Oberhammer

19. Margaret Guerin-Calvert

Margaret Guerin-Calvert is a Senior Managing Director for FTI Consultation, a business advisory firm headquartered in Washington, DC.
